Force for Change

“Heroes come in all sizes, and you don’t have to be a giant hero. You can be a very small hero. It’s just as important to understand that accepting self-responsibility for the things you do, … [such as] caring about other people–these are heroic acts. Everybody has the choice of being a hero or not being a hero every day of their lives. You don’t have to get into a giant laser-sword fight and blow up three spaceships to become a hero.”

George Lucas

Interview with Bill Moyers in Time, 1999

Steve and Tommy are a bit of fun, but there is a more serious side to them.

Phil has worked at a local art group for adults with learning difficulties for the past few years. The group is called Imagine, Learn & Create, based in South Petherton, Somerset.

The main aim of ILC is to help the students, to imagine, learn and create for themselves. This is done with encouragement, patience, kindness and fun! Hence why Steve & Tommy are such a big help; they help fire up the students imagination so they can learn to create.

Having fun at the group is a major part of the whole thing and two naughty storm troopers are great for this!

Working with adults with learning difficulties can make you a hero, like George said in the original quote at the top of  the page.

ILC do what they can to help out and to support other groups, projects and organisations and encourage people to reach out, if they are able.

Please give them a follow on Facebook and if you know of a local group near you, why not give them a call and see if you can lend a hand?

Steve and Tommy are not a  charity and they make no money from the things they do.

If you would like to help out, please visit Force For Change, which is a registered charity, created by George Lucas that makes sure money goes to help around the world.
